A Typical Week Around the BSU…

The semester is well underway, but perhaps you’re still looking for a way to get plugged in to a Christian ministry at Missouri Western. Here are a few opportunities that happen throughout any given week at the BSU that you should check out!

1. MOMENTUM (our Thursday night Coffee House & Worship Gathering) happens every Thursday night at 7pm at the BSU. You can come early and/or stay late to chill with friends, make new friends, eat, drink a frappuccino, play a game of pool we call “SCUM”, and much more. During Momentum, we spend a significant time each week singing great songs that help point us toward knowing Jesus. Following worship, this fall we’re exploring the journeys of some of the great kings and prophets of the Bible and learning how their lives illustrate our need for the Gospel. Come check it out!

2. WEDNESDAY LUNCH – Join us in the Food Court in BLUM every Wednesday over the noon hour. We usually have a good laugh and get to know each other a bit better. Come, and bring a friend!

3. SMALL GROUPS – Monday nights are small group Bible study night this semester at the “B”. Guys meet at 7pm at the BSU to study through 1st Peter and enjoy an ever-increasing sense of brotherhood. Gals meet at 6:30 on campus. ON TUESDAYS, there is a co-ed Bible Study that meets in Scanlon Hall at 7pm, and ON MONDAYS there is also a Bible study for football players! 4. PRAYER – a growing group meets at 6:00AM every Thursday for prayer, and it’s awesome to see how God is blessing faithfulness to come before Him in prayer!

5. FUN – Sometimes on Wednesdays or Friday or Sunday nights, a group of us get together to play Ultimate Frisbee, Capture the Flag, etc! Watch our Facebook Page for up-to-the-minute info on this stuff!

It’s our prayer that you may know and experience the Lord Jesus more and more through involvement in a community of Jesus-followers. We hope you’ll find a place to know and grow during your time at MWSU, and we hope that you’ll take the time to get to know us a bit!

Fall Kick-off!

It’s about time for some fun here at the BSU! Check out what’s coming up:

1. WEDNESDAY – 8/24 – Help us help Freshmen move into their rooms on campus! Some of us will be there 9AM until it’s done! If you’re a freshmen, we hope we can help move you in!

2. FRIDAY – 8/26 – Griffon Edge Organizational Fair – Stop by our booth to meet a few students from the BSU, and pick up some cool free stuff!

3. MONDAY – 8/29 – FIRST DAY OF CLASS & Western Warm-up Organization Fair by the Clocktower! Join us or let us know you’ll be stopping by!

4. TUESDAY – 8/30 – FIRST CAMPUS BIBLE STUDY – Join us somewhere on campus (possibly Scanlon Hall) to meet a few BSU leaders & get plugged in to our Freshmen Bible Study! Sign up at one of the Organizational Fairs and we’ll make sure you have the time & location!

5. WEDNESDAY – 8/31 – MUD VOLLEYBALL! – We’re teaming up with a couple of other Christian Campus groups to put together a mud volleyball tourney! 4-8pm back behind the BSU! There’ll be plenty of free food, music, and opportunities to meet all sorts of students from campus! Don’t Miss this! Check our the facebook event by clicking here!

Summer Bible Study

It all starts Thursday, May 19th! Join us at 7pm at the BSU as we begin a summer of study through the Pastoral Epistles (1 & 2 Timothy, Titus).

Practical. Theological. Collegiate. It’s gonna be good!

EPIC End of the Year Stuff Coming!

BOX AUCTION – Momentum on Thursday, May 5th (yes, during finals week) is gonna be a fun night! In addition to music and honoring our seniors, we’ll be holding a special auction to raise money for missions–possibly for one of our own BSUers. HERE’S THE DEAL though–we need YOU to make a creative “box” of something to auction off at the auction. We also need you to bring a few dollars to buy a box that night =). In years past, boxes have been full of candy, baked goods, CDs, and fun stuff from the dollar store. =) It’s an BSU tradition!

HELP BABYSIT for a PASTOR’S DAY OUT on Saturday, May 7th from 1-4pm at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. What a neat opportunity to be a blessing to area pastors! Talk to me to get info about how to sign up to help!

STUDY DAY (May 3rd) is gonna be a fun day at the BSU. From 9am until who knows, bring your game system and come hang out at the BSU. Then, from 5-7pm or so, the girls are throwing a baby shower for Jala (talk to Katie, Breanna, or Michaela). Beginning at 6:30, the guys are gonna grill up some hamburgers and hot dogs for a cookout. Once that’s over, we’re doing a photo scavenger hunt and possibly watching a movie outdoors on the lawn afterwards. It’s gonna be a fun night!

It’s a busy time of year!

PANCAKE SUPPER! Thursday, 6pm before Momentum. The guys are cooking pancakes for all, so come one come all! It’s gonna be a good night to come to the BSU! Guys are needed to help cook, cut fruit, and get everything ready, so please come at 5:15 to help cook if you can!

MOMENTUM will follow pancakes at 7pm (as usual)!

1. WEDNESDAY LUNCH is at the Blum Food Court from 11-1ish. Bring a friend and come on out for some fun around the lunch table!

2. MOMENTUM Worship Gathering & Coffee House also starts back up this THURSDAY @ 7pm. Plan to come early and/or stay late for food (sandwiches, finger foods, cookies, etc) and good times with friends!

NEWS FLASH – MOMENTUM to start at 8pm THIS WEEK ONLY!

Hey! Since this Thursday night is the MWSU football v. Lincoln game at 6pm, we’ve decided to start MOMENTUM a little late to allow you to go to at least part of the game and still come over to the BSU. Worship & Bible Study will start at 8:00, but even if you stay for the entire game, we’ll still be hanging out, eating snacks, drinking lattes, and probably playing SCUM around the pool table. SO, come late!  The gist of the story:

Chasing Daylight

Ever feel like there’s just too much to do and not enough time?  Now that you’re into a new semester of classes, I’m sure it’s tempting to just crack the books and be a hermit in your room, right?  Who are we kidding!  You want to meet as many people as you can and find a place on this campus!  Here’s a couple of ideas….MAKE SURE YOU READ TO THE BOTTOM…=)

WEDNESDAY LUNCH – 11:30-1:00 or so at the Food Court!  Look for us in the big corner booth or at a row of long tables somewhere in the middle.

MOMENTUM Coffee House & Worship Gathering (a.k.a. “Coffee & Jesus”) – 8 PM Thursday @ the BSU House (4534 Mitchell Ave., right across from the main entrance to campus).  Come early or stay late for sandwiches and finger foods.  Play a lively game of SCUM around the pool table or just chill with friends!

FRIDAY Night Game Night @ Paul & Jala’s place - 9/10/10 – 7pm until midnight or so! And we’re not talking about ordinary boring games here!  Jala says she might be convinced to make skillet cookies…..what are those?  Come and find out!  Meet up at the BSU to carpool (a little before 7) to Paul & Jala’s house (it’s just 5 mins from campus) or call Paul for directions: 262-6991.

A week of Preparations! Hop on Board!

1. If you’re signed up to help with Griffon Greeters tomorrow, thanks so much! Sounds like it may be a cooler day too! I’m walking over to campus at 8:45 in the morning.

2. At noon tomorrow, we’re partnering with CCF to provide lunch for the marching band. Just heard about this cool opportunity. If you’re helping with move-in…this means lunch is taken care of for you!! If you’re interested in mingling with us and serving the band, join us around 11:30 at the practice field back behind the residence halls.

3. WORK DAY! This THURSDAY! I’m working on what seems to be an ever-growing to-do list this week, and I’d love some help if you’ve got time! A little painting. A little yard work. Some cleaning/organizing. Maybe steam cleaning carpets. Helping get things ready for the Griffon Edge Fair. And much more! 9-?

4. LAST SUMMER BIBLE STUDY – THURSDAY…7pm @ the BSU. Prayer. Conversation. Bible Study. Jesus. =)

5. FRIDAY – GRIFFON EDGE FAIR – 11-12:30 in Looney. Help us get set up beginning around 10:30 or just swing by sometime to help us meet and greet!

6. FRIDAY – CHIEFS GAME –> it’s not entirely too late to get a ticket. They tell me I can add tickets up until Thursday, but LET ME KNOW ASAP. As of right now, we’re at 19 going! http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=107450752646020

Summer Time Thursdays

So, it’s Thursday and you’re wondering what to do tonight.  Why don’t you stop by the BSU (4534 Mitchell Ave. right across from the main entrance to MWSU) for our Summer Bible Study?  We’re a group of college-aged young adults who get together for community and discussion-oriented Bible study.  It’s at 7pm each Thursday this summer.  Come check it out.  Bring a friend.  Stay for ice cream.  Have a blast!
